Symposium engages debate on role of science
Washington, D.C.-December 5, 2001-This one-day event, "War on Terrorism: What Does It Mean for Science?" will engage the scientific community in debate over the role of science in this dynamic and highly charged political environment. Speakers will carefully consider their own professional and personal roles after the terrorist attacks of September 11th.
Discussion will explore the responsibility of scientists and engineers for the uses of their discoveries. What are the implications to proposed reorganization of security structure on the conduct of science? Will there be increased restrictions on scientific exchanges and collaborations, and if so, what will be the impacts? Speakers include:
