The American Chemical Society launches new online career service for students

ORLANDO, Fla. — JobSpectrum.org, the comprehensive online career and employment service of the American Chemical Society, is launching a new service to help undergraduate and graduate chemistry students transition to the workplace. Campus Center, jobspectrum.org, debuts during the Society’s 223rd national meeting in Orlando, April 7-11.

“Undergraduate and graduate chemistry students — in search of internships, summer jobs, and entry-level positions — need specialized career services and resources,” said Mary Funke, the project’s general manager. “Campus Center helps connect students and employers, matching student skills to available job opportunities.”

Campus Center offers a number of features designed to individualize the search for a job or develop just the right candidate profile to provide job seekers and employers with a personalized online experience.

Rich in career information, Campus Center has current data on degrees and employment in the chemical labor force; resources for more effective resume writing, interviewing, networking, and negotiating; employment trends; and salary information.

JobSpectrum — launched last summer — is the total career resource web site for the chemical community and the place for chemistry-related career development resources. It has been recognized by CareerXroads 2002, and Weddles’ 2002 Recruiters’ Guide to Employment Web Sites as one of the top Web sites for jobs, resume and career management information.

Since its inception, JobSpectrum has attracted more than 6,000 registered job seekers, nearly 1,100 registered companies, and resulted in more than 13,000 applications to date.
