Wetland Restoration: Addressing Asian Issues Through International Collaboration

The objective of this Symposium is to provide a forum for synthesizing existing knowledge about ecosystem processes as a foundation for effective wetland restoration in Asia. It is a joint conference that combines the international Society of Wetland Scientists with the Wetland Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Historical land uses and contemporary needs have extirpated much of the wetlands on the Asian continent. This Symposium is intended to provide a forum to exchange information on approaches for effective, functional, ecosystem restoration to improve and guide future research needs. Wetland sciences, restoration ecology, and contemporary issues of global change, sustainability, conservation biology, and clean water resources are considered fundamental considerations for effective restoration strategies.
