Media advisory: New CDC treatment guidelines critical to preventing health consequences of STDs

WHO: Dr. Stuart Berman and Dr. Kimberly Workowski, CDC STD experts

WHAT: To discuss The 2002 Guidelines for Treatment of Sexually Transmitted Diseases, national guidelines designed to help health care providers protect patients from the health consequences that result from STDs. The 2002 Guidelines integrate recommendations on the most effective treatment regimes, screening procedures and prevention strategies for STDs, which infect an estimated 15 million Americans each year.
