CDC reports latest syphilis trends in United States

WHO: Dr. Ronald O. Valdiserri, Deputy Director CDC's National Center for HIV, STD, and TB Prevention

WHAT: Dr. Valdiserri will discuss "Primary and Secondary Syphilis- United States, 2000-2001," an article in this week's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. He will highlight progress among populations and regions most affected by the disease, as well as a significant increase in syphilis rates among U.S. men. He will also examine progress toward the national goal of eliminating syphilis by 2005, and challenges posed by outbreaks among certain populations, including gay and bisexual men.
