WHY:
In 1999, the California Legislature and Gov. Gray Davis directed the M.I.N.D. Institute at UC Davis to explore factors that may be associated with an increase in the number of children with autism in the state. The results of the study are being presented to the Legislature prior to the press conference on Oct. 17.
