1. Introduction
For the first time ever, the leading European and American geoscience societies are holding a joint meeting: the 2003 EGS-AGU-EUG Joint Assembly. It takes place from 7-11 April at the Nice-Acropolis Congress Center in Nice, France.
Joint Assembly replaces AGU's Spring Meeting this year. AGU is joining with the European Geophysical Society and the European Union of Geosciences for the largest geophysics meeting ever held in Europe. Over 8,000 scientists will present research results in more than 500 topical sessions, union and educational symposia, short courses and workshops, keynote and medal lectures, and town hall meetings, as well as separate meetings of working groups. As is normal for all three societies, the meeting will be conducted entirely in English.
As usual at AGU meetings, a Press Room is being organized, along with a slate of newsworthy press conferences. These will be announced in a subsequent advisory.
The meeting occurs earlier than AGU's traditional spring meeting, so registration, transportation arrangements, and hotel bookings must be done soon. See below.
Press registrants are urged to check in and receive their Press badges on Sunday, 6 April, starting at 1400, in order to avoid long lines the following morning as the meeting gets underway.
