Researchers identify gene for premature aging disorder
Progeria gene discovery may help solve mysteries of normal aging
1 p.m., Weds., April 14 -- Washington--National Press Club--The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and the Progeria Research Foundation will hold a news conference in the First Amendment Room to announce the discovery of a gene mutation that causes progeria, a rare genetic disease that resembles accelerated aging. The research will be published in Nature magazine. NHGRI is part of the National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Resources.
