The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners hosts 18th Annual Conference

AUSTIN (May 5) -- The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) will host its 18th annual national conference at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, June 28 – July 3, 2003. Approximately 2,000 nurse practitioners from around the country are expected to attend. This is the first year that the AANP conference will have a working press room.

The six-day event will feature more than 300 expert faculty presentations and state-of-the-art skills enhancement workshops to update attendees on current, practical, clinically-oriented practice information as well as on legislative, policy, and practice issues. (Expanded pre- and post-day conference workshops are being offered at no additional cost for those who have registered for the 2003 Conference.) An exhibit hall filled with a variety of pharmaceutical, medical supply and equipment companies, computer and business support companies, recruiters, and publishing houses will showcase the latest in goods and services designed to support the nurse practitioner.

The conference opens on Sunday, June 29, with a keynote address by Dr. Lawrence B. Li, a family physician with The Center for Integrative Medicine in Tarzana, CA. Dr. Li will share his interest in different healing systems in his talk on Lessons Learned on the Journey to Becoming an Integrated Medicine Practitioner.

Former U. S. Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher, will address the conference closing session on a pressing health care issue facing the United States today, Promoting Access to Effective Primary Health Care for all Americans. The closing session also features Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, a private practice physician in Corrales, New Mexico, who will explore Complementary and Alternative Medicine: A Consumer-Driven Movement? Implications for Health Care Providers.
