'Corrosion and Cracking of Welds', an international conference at NPL

The National Physical Laboratory, in association with the European Federation of Corrosion (EFC) and The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3); is facilitating an international conference on the Corrosion and Cracking of Welds; to be held in London on the 12th and 13th May 2004. A first call for papers for presentation at the conference has now been issued.

The conference is aimed at the engineer concerned with current best practice in avoiding weld corrosion and cracking problems as well as researchers wishing to present and debate the latest technical advances. Presentations will thus be given by experts from diverse industries including oil and gas, nuclear, aerospace, and beyond and will cover stainless steels, carbon steels, aluminium alloys and other relevant materials.

The programme for the conference is still being formulated so there are opportunities for those working in this area to have their papers presented or published for the event. Interested parties wishing to submit a paper should e-mail both title and abstract by 31st August 2003 to: alan.turnbull@npl.co.uk.
