Bio-X symposium will be held at the Clark Center on July 31

The Bio-X program will present an interdisciplinary initiatives symposium in the auditorium of the new James H. Clark Center on Thursday, July 31, from 1 to 5 p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature short presentations by nine Stanford researchers who have been awarded Bio-X Interdisciplinary Initiatives grants covering a wide range of interests - from image-guided radiosurgery to protein folding to the effects of carbon dioxide on coral reefs.

A major component of the Bio-X program is the encouragement of cross-campus collaboration in the biosciences. In that spirit, the researchers at the symposium represent seven departments from three schools - Engineering, Medicine, and Humanities and Sciences.

Matthew Scott, chair of the Bio-X Leadership Council, will give opening remarks, and Harvey Cohen, chair of the Bio-X Interdisciplinary Initiatives Program Committee, will provide closing comments. A reception and poster session will begin at 3:45 p.m. For details, visit the Bio-X Website at http://biox.stanford.edu/iip_symp_03.html.
