Editors' choices symposium to be held at American Academy of Ophthalmology's annual meeting

The papers chosen are ones that suggest changes in recommended clinical practice or that prove or disprove something ophthalmologists have assumed with less than solid evidence. The topics to be presented are:

• Use of patching for treatment of lazy eye in children
• Use of an iodine-based anti-infective to treat pink eye in children
• Development of multiple sclerosis after optic neuritis
• Corneal thickness and abnormal visual function in patients with ocular hypertension
• Visual loss in patients with open-angle glaucoma after 15 years
• Progression of glaucoma and the effect of treatment
• Long-term prevalence of annual eye exams of patients with diabetes or chronic eye diseases
• Cataract surgery and the incidence of age-related macular disease
• Intravitreal injection of an anti-inflammatory drug for treatment of wet macular degeneration
• Pathology study of choroidal membranes treated with photodynamic therapy
• Effect of indocyanine-green on outcome of macular pucker and macular hole surgery
• Visual acuity loss in patients with Stargardt's disease
