Egyptian-American democracy advocate Saad Eddin Ibrahim to speak

Internationally known Egyptian-American sociologist and democracy and human rights advocate Saad Eddin Ibrahim who was recently released from an Egyptian-government prison, following President Bush's threatened suspension of financial aid to Egypt, will speak at the American Sociological Association's (ASA) annual meeting in Atlanta, GA. The session, "A Conversation with Saad Eddin Ibrahim," will provide an opportunity to hear and meet Professor Ibrahim, a renowned social activist from the American University in Cairo. The session takes place on August 16 from 4:30-6:10 PM in Grand Salon B in the Hilton Atlanta Hotel (255 Courtland St., NE).

In addition to his presentation, Ibrahim will also participate in a media availability on Monday, August 18. This will provide reporters with the opportunity for a one-on-one discussion on his fight for democracy in Egypt, human rights issues, and more.
