ACP Annual Session April 22-24, 2004

Internists to meet in New Orleans, update on adult health

The ACP Annual Session, a medical education meeting, will feature more than 260 lectures, panels and workshops. Topics will include chronic pain, handling violence, evaluating disability, patient safety, managing the obese patient, tobacco's international toll, food safety, headaches, and medicinal herbs.

Physicians will also refine techniques in biopsy, casting and splinting, and specialized exams in ACP's Waxman Learning Center set up for the meeting.

All ACP Annual Session events will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Press briefings will feature expert faculty and new ACP initiatives.

Most educational sessions are open to registered and credentialed reporters.

The American College of Physicians (ACP) is the largest medical specialty organization and the second largest physician group in the United States. ACP members include more than 115,000 internal medicine physicians (internists), related subspecialists, and medical students. Internists specialize in the prevention, detection and treatment of illnesses in adults, reflected in the organization's trademarked phrase "Doctors of Internal Medicine. Doctors for Adults.®"
