American Academy of Family Physicians

Original research presented at AAFP Annual Scientific Assembly

ORLANDO -- Twenty-four researchers will present their original research papers during the Family Medicine Research Presentations at the American Academy of Family Physicians' annual Scientific Assembly this week in Orlando. Topics include recurrent depression linked to military deployment, elder abuse and neglect, obesity in adolescents and episiotomy in low-risk vaginal deliveries.

The papers will be presented on Friday, Oct. 15, 1-4 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 16, 8-11 a.m. in the Orange County Convention Center. Each presentation will be followed by a question and answer period.

Two award-winning papers from Friday and Saturday will be presented a second time between lectures in the Auditorium (2:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.). Members of the AAFP Subcommittee on Family Medicine Research Presentations will select the award-winning papers.

Additional research projects will be on display in the Scientific Exhibits area of the Exposition Hall Thursday, Oct. 14 - Saturday, Oct. 16. Researchers will be available to discuss their findings between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. every day.
