Study sheds light on effectiveness of acupuncture for knee osteoarthritis

NCCAM and NIAMS to hold telephone briefing To release findings

What: A telephone briefing to release results of the largest, phase III, randomized, controlled clinical trial ever conducted regarding effectiveness of acupuncture for osteoarthritis of the knee. During the briefing, study investigators will share results of the trial and answer questions during a moderated question and answer session. The study was funded by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), both components of the National Institutes of Health.
