Blackwell publishing to launch new cardiology journal

Book Announcement

Blackwell Publishing Ltd.

Boston, MA – August 22, 2005 --Blackwell Publishing announced plans to launch a new journal, Congenital Heart Disease: Clinical Studies from Fetus to Adulthood starting in January 2006. This specialized, clinical journal will address the latest research developments in congenital heart disease in children and adults. This new journal highlights Blackwell's powerful medical publishing presence in the field of cardiology.

"Congenital heart disease is responsible for more deaths in the first year of life than any other birth defect," says Dr. Douglas Moodie, editor of Congenital Heart Disease . "The editorial mission of the journal is to better educate cardiologists, researchers, and nurses on the developments in this discipline. This in turn will help develop more effective treatments for patients with congenital heart disease."

Congenital Heart Disease will cover all specialized studies in this field, such as fetal, infant and child-based care, as well as adult care, and will explore the growth of technology in treatment for congenital heart disease. The journal will include clinical studies, invited editorials, state-of-the-art reviews, video clips, case reports, articles focusing on the history and development of congenital heart disease, and CME material.

"Blackwell is delighted to be partnering with an editor with such extensive experience in congenital heart disease," says Nigel Fletcher-Jones, PhD, Blackwell's Executive Vice President and Publishing Director. "With Dr. Moodie's editorial leadership, we're confident Congenital Heart Disease will quickly become a major, international, high-quality resource for adult and pediatric cardiologists."
