COLORADO RIVER BASIN WATER MANAGEMENT: EVALUATING AND ADJUSTING TO HYDROCLIMATIC VARIABILITY, a new report from the National Research Council, looks at how tree-ring reconstructions of historical river flows, including periods of extended drought, are transforming understanding of average annual flows. The report also examines how future flows may be affected by rising temperatures, and the impact of rapid population growth on communities' efforts to cope with droughts and water shortages.
The report's findings and recommendations will be discussed during a one-hour telephone news conference beginning at 9 a.m. PST on Wednesday, Feb. 21. Advance copies of the report will be available to reporters only beginning at noon PST on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
THE REPORT IS EMBARGOED AND NOT FOR PUBLIC RELEASE BEFORE 9 A.M. PST ON FEB. 21.
