Kids in the Chicago area will get answers to recycling and environmental questions at a special hands-on Kids & Chemistry event — Chemistry in Action: It’s Easy Being Green! — on Saturday, March 24th, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, 2430 North Cannon Drive, Chicago.
The program is an American Chemical Society Presidential event that coincides with the ACS’ 233rd national meeting being held in Chicago March 25-29. ACS is the world’s largest scientific society. A discounted admission to the museum will be offered during the time of the ACS event. For details call the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum (773-755-5100) or visit the museum Web site, www.naturemuseum.org.
The event, sponsored by the ACS Department of Academic Programs and the ACS Office of Community Activities, will feature an appearance by ACS President Catherine T. Hunt, who will put on her goggles, roll up her sleeves and join children in carrying out hands-on experiments to illustrate the “green” themes of recycling, water treatment and preventing pollution. She will be joined by volunteers from the ACS.
