Springer will publish the first three volumes in its new Undergraduate Topics in Computer Science (UTiCS) series in April 2007. The series will cover a wide range of computer science subjects using a modular approach, providing textbooks which cover specific topics in detail. Four to six textbooks are scheduled per year, to be released regularly in April and September.
"The new UTiCS textbook series takes a fresh, concise and modern approach to computer science, with books written in an appealing style that will be welcomed by students," said Series Editor Ian Mackie, King's College, London. "Springer continues to innovate the way its instructional texts present information about complex subjects, helping to facilitate learning at the undergraduate level."
Beverley Ford, Executive Editor for Computer Science at Springer, said, "The UTiCS textbooks offer instructional content by established experts – from core foundational and theoretical material to final-year topics and applications. The series presents in-depth coverage of topics, along with numerous examples, problems and fully worked solutions, making the books suitable for one- or two-semester courses or self study. In addition, they are being issued in sturdy softcover versions, so they are both affordable and durable."
