Beijing, P.R. China, April 19 – Elsevier, a world-leading medical publisher, today announced an extension of their partnership with Peking University Medical Press (PUMP) to enhance access to international medical resources in China. Following the initial partnership in 2004, the joint editorial office under this collaboration with PUMP has published more than 100 health sciences publications. With the renewal of the partnership, Elsevier and PUMP will increase the amount of international medical content and resources available in the local language in China.
"This partnership has taken great steps in making world class resources available to clinicians, students, and experts in the medical field here in China, who will continue to benefit from Elsevier's partnerships with renowned medical institutions and publishers like the Peking University Medical Press." said Brian Nairn, CEO of Elsevier Health Sciences, speaking at a ceremony to launch the signing of the agreement.

Elsevier Health Sciences has had a presence in China since the 1980s. The company's contribution in bringing top information and medical data resources to China include, The Lancet Chinese edition, leading text and reference books and electronic publishing products, including a clinical solutions platform – MD Consult® in 2005, which has enabled physicians to offer better care and led to greater efficiencies in hospitals.
