Meeting new challenges of health, well-being and poverty in developing countries

WHAT Developing countries are experiencing a continued increase in the relative number of older persons with many implications for their emerging public health policy area. These countries will need to improve planning and allocation processes of economic resources, and train policymakers in aging issues to further the aging agenda.

This workshop is focused on creating awareness and acquiring critical skills and knowledge to help to deal with the emerging political, socioeconomic and health issues of rapidly aging societies in developing countries. Participants will examine the role of the United Nations in attending to population aging issues, prepare their country-specific action plans and collaboratively develop a shared set of recommendations for the rights of older persons on the international development agenda.
