SCIENCE AND SECURITY IN A POST 9/11 WORLD: A REPORT BASED ON REGIONAL DISCUSSIONS BETWEEN THE SCIENCE AND SECURITY COMMUNITIES, new from the National Research Council, recommends specific steps to help ensure that restrictions designed to protect national security do not unnecessarily impede scientific research and publishing, or the travel of scientists and students. It also suggests ways the security and research communities can work together more closely. The report will be released at a one-hour public briefing.
