American Cancer Society science reporters briefing to feature latest developments in cancer

Covering Cancer: Rx for Progress -- March 14, NYC

ATLANTA—The American Cancer Society invites medical and science reporters to attend a special briefing on Friday, March 14 in New York City to learn what’s new in the fight against cancer and hear from some of the top experts at the American Cancer Society. This informative media briefing will offer the latest trends in cancer incidence and mortality as well as in cancer research, prevention, early detection, patient services, and more.

The briefing will take place at the new Jerome L. Greene Family Center - Hope Lodge New York City, 132 West 32nd Street, Manhattan. Presenters include Otis W. Brawley, MD, chief medical officer, Robert A. Smith, director of cancer screening, Youngmee Kim and Kevin Stein from the American Cacner Society’s Behavioral Research Center, and others.

This session will include presentations from the Society’s Behavioral Research Center on quality of life among cancer survivors and new, soon to be published research. You’ll also learn about how the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge helps cancer patients and their caregivers and will get a preview of the Society’s newest public awareness campaign to reach Spanish-speaking people who are newly diagnosed or are caring for someone who is newly diagnosed.
