Leading US experts on Chin-Am relations to analyze post-election agendas in Beijing Nov. 10

How will the U.S. elections affect the agenda for Chinese-American relations? This is the topic of a day-long symposium to be held in Beijing, Nov. 10 on the campus of the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University, featuring some of the most well-informed American authorities on China, as well as leaders in the field from Beijing. The event is free and open to all members of the news media.

The event will be led by Peter Cowhey, dean of the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies and Frieder Seible, dean of the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego, co-sponsors of the event, along with Tsinghua University, represented by Yan Xuetong, Director of The Institute of International Studies.

Among the highly regarded "China-watchers" in attendance will be:

• Admiral William J. Fallon, United States Navy (Retired), Former Commander of U.S. Pacific and Central Commands
• Susan Shirk, UC San Diego Professor of Political Science; Ho Miu Lam Chair in China and Pacific Relations, School of International Relations and Pacific Studies and author of the recently published, "China: Fragile Superpower"
• Barry Naughton, UC San Diego Professor of Chinese Economy; Sokwanlok Chair of Chinese International Affairs, School of International Relations/Pacific Studies
• James Fallows, National Correspondent, The Atlantic
