CAREFREE, A.Z. - With new evidence emerging on the role of biological, genetic, environmental, behavioral and social factors that contribute to disparities in risk and outcome for cancer in minority populations, the American Association for Cancer Research will host the Science of Cancer Health Disparities Conference in Carefree, Arizona, from February 3 - 6, 2009.
"The goals of this conference are to bring together physicians, scientists, health professionals and health care leaders working in a variety of disciplines to discuss the latest findings in their fields, to foster collaborative interdisciplinary interactions and partnerships, and to stimulate the development of new research," said Cheryl L. Willman, M.D., director and CEO of the University of New Mexico Cancer Research & Treatment Center.
More than 200 abstracts will be presented at this meeting on basic science, clinical research, population science, behavioral research and cancer survivorship, which will complement an outstanding program of general lectures.
To help members of the media take advantage of this groundbreaking science, the American Association for Cancer Research's Office of Communications will distribute a full press kit and host two English language and one Spanish language press conference.
