Feb. 5 briefing on survey of biologists views on bioterrorism

The National Research Council and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) surveyed AAAS members in the life sciences to explore their views of "dual-use" research – research intended for beneficial purposes that could potentially be used for bioterrorism. The survey also explored whether the respondents are taking action to prevent the misuse of their research.

A SURVEY OF ATTITUDES AND ACTIONS ON DUAL USE RESEARCH IN THE LIFE SCIENCES reports on the survey's results, some of the first empirical data about life scientists' views on dual-use research issues. The report will be released at a one-hour public briefing.
