A Daisyphone, Virtual Cocoon and a 'Smart' house for people with dementia are just some of the highlights at a major exhibition on 4th March, organised by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
'Pioneers 09' is a free event aiming to bring together, and build partnerships between, forward-thinking UK researchers and business people. The event includes a dynamic, interactive exhibition highlighting examples of leading-edge university research.

In addition, the extensive, list of participants includes: Tom Ilube, CEO of online identity specialists Garlik; John Armitt, Chairman of EPSRC and the Olympic Delivery Authority; and science journalist Quentin Cooper.
The hands-on exhibition will include over 20 top UK research groups, arranged in four categories: Great Outdoors; Interactive Home; Rapid Response; and Energy Centre.
'Pioneers 09' is being organised by EPSRC and supported by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).

A panel chaired by Quentin Cooper will examine our changing perceptions of privacy in the digital world and the implications for businesses, designers and policy-makers.
Panel members will include: Professor Dame Wendy Hall, University of Southampton; Tom Ilube, CEO of Garlik; Jim Killock, CEO of the Open Rights Group.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day. A restaurant and café will be available for guests to buy meals.
