The Institute of Medicine's 39th annual meeting will include the announcement of new members and a public symposium that explores the role of the environment in health with in-depth discussions about safe water and the impacts of urbanization and climate change on the health of people. In addition, IOM will present the Gustav O. Lienhard Award for outstanding national achievement in improving personal health care services, and the Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat International Prize for outstanding achievement in improving mental health.
The symposium runs from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 12 in the auditorium of the National Academy of Sciences building, 2100 C St., N.W. The announcement of new members is embargoed until 10 a.m. EDT Oct. 12. The names of the Lienhard Award and Sarnat Prize recipients are embargoed until noon EDT Oct. 12.
