Carnegie Mellon to host workshop about basics of technology entrepreneurship

Carnegie Mellon University will host "Invention to Venture," a one-day workshop about the basics of technology entrepreneurship for students interested in learning about what it takes to launch a startup venture.

Presentations will cover a wide range of topics including entrepreneurship, intellectual property issues and business plans. Participants include Erica Fuchs, an assistant professor of engineering and public policy at Carnegie Mellon whose research focuses on the role of government in technology development; James Jordan, vice president and chief investment officer of the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse; and Jeff Mullen, a Carnegie Mellon alumnus and chief executive officer of Dynamics Inc., which produces next generation payment cards.

Event sponsors include Carnegie Mellon's College of Engineering, its Tepper School of Business, the Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Association, the Entrepreneur and Venture Club, Project Olympus and TLneoCare LLC. "Invention to Venture" is a program of the 200-member National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA) with funding from The Lemeison Foundation and the Kauffman Foundation.
