Marketing guru to speak at inaugural Chua Thian Poh Distinguished Lecture

As Chinese companies continue to spread their wings abroad and make a global impact, what does this mean for the rest of the world? How can entrepreneurs and business corporations in other countries compete with the emerging Chinese global players in their local and international markets? What are the implications for global strategies, global marketing and entrepreneurial behaviour in other countries?

Distinguished speaker, Professor Jean-Pierre Jeannet, the F.W. Olin Distinguished Professor of Global Business at Babson College in Wellesley, United States, and Professor of Global Marketing and Strategy at the IMD Institute in Lausanne, Switzerland, will address these issues at the inaugural Chua Thian Poh Distinguished Lecture at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) on 11 March, 4 p.m.

Some 1,500 corporate chiefs, industry leaders and NTU faculty members, staff and students are expected to turn up for the lecture on 'The New Silk Road: Global Implications for Marketing and Entrepreneurial Practice'. Professor Jeannet will address these issues from the vantage point of what can be expected from the Chinese players, and how other global business corporations can meet these challenges.

A luminary in international and global marketing, global strategies and thinking, market orientation and competitive marketing strategies, and an author and co-author of more than 100 teaching cases and books, including Managing with a Global Mindset, Global Key Account Management, and Managing with a Global Mindset, Prof Jeannet is also an active consultant in management development, project consulting, and strategic planning with a number of international companies.

NTU President Dr Su Guaning will chair the public lecture, which is an annual key event of the Chua Thian Poh Entrepreneurship Education Fund. NTU is the proud beneficiary of the S$5-million fund, made possible by a gift from prominent Singapore business leader and philanthropist Mr Chua Thian Poh, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Ho Bee Group in 2008. The fund, with another S$5 million matched by the Singapore Government, will go towards entrepreneurship and innovation education in NTU. Mr Chua will be the guest-of-honour at the lecture, which was organised by the Nanyang Technopreneurship Centre to raise community awareness and interest in entrepreneurship studies and development.
