Thousands of physicians, researchers and academics from around the world will gather in New Orleans in early May for Digestive Disease Week® (DDW®), the premiere scientific conference in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy and gastrointestinal surgery.
Each day of the conference will feature presentations of breakthrough research on a broad variety of gastrointestinal health issues: the latest advances in gastroenterological health for women and children, including the effect of maternal irritable bowel disease on newborns; the use of narcotics among patients with irritable bowel syndrome; research on obesity, including the effect of waist circumference on rectal cancer surgery; and the risk of obesity-related cancer following obesity surgery.
The latest research in the following GI health topics will also be presented during the conference:
DDW is jointly sponsored by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Institute, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract.
Numerous press conferences will be held during the meeting to present the most compelling research in the field. Each press event will be accessible to the media both in-person at the conference and via teleconference. To access to the latest news, research breakthroughs and leading researchers in the field, register to attend DDW this year.
**Look for an advisory with details of a telebriefing to preview the research soon.**
