JAMA and McGraw-Hill announce publication of a new book—Care at the Close of Life: Evidence and Experience, which is a new addition to the JAMAevidence series, Care at the Close of Life, and offers evidence-based and clinically expert guidance on caring for patients with life-limiting illnesses.

The book thoroughly updates the 42 journal articles originally published as JAMA's "Perspectives on Care at the Close of Life" series and features never-before published material. Care at the Close of Life covers a wide range of clinical syndromes, disease processes, communication challenges, and issues faced by patients and families in a variety of health care settings. Throughout the book, emphasis is on the principles of palliative care for the patient and family, with careful attention to physical, psychological, social, and spiritual domains of care.
