Digestive Disease Week 2011, Chicago, May 7-11

Breakthrough research in gastroenterology and hepatology

Thousands of physicians, researchers and academics from around the world will gather in Chicago in early May for Digestive Disease Week® (DDW), the premiere scientific conference in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy and gastrointestinal surgery.

Each day of the conference will feature presentations of breakthrough research on a broad variety of gastrointestinal health issues, including:

• Does BMI screening start too late in childhood?
• Does bariatric surgery improve cardiac risk factors, while increasing the risk for alcohol dependence?
• Do the symptoms of lactose intolerance suggest a psychological disorder?
• Should the entire population be screened for hepatitis?
• What is the safest way to administer colonoscopies?

Numerous press conferences will be held during the meeting to present the most compelling research in the field. Each press event will be accessible to the media both in-person at the conference and via teleconference.
