Bethesda, MD - The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) is proud to announce the winners of Bio-Art, its first-ever biomedical image competition.
Winning entries were unveiled on FASEB's web site, displayed during FASEB's May 16th, 2012 Centennial Reception at the United States Capitol Complex, and will be featured on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) website and main campus.
According to FASEB President Joseph C. LaManna, PhD, "the competition elicited an enthusiastic response from the biomedical research community and received outstanding scientific and engineering images from top research institutions across the country."

FASEB sought to recognize the most captivating representations of cutting edge biomedical research. Specifically, FASEB sought original, laboratory-based images produced by current or former NIH-funded investigators, contractors, or trainees or members of FASEB constituent societies.
These images will be useful in our ongoing efforts to generate interest among the general public and Members of Congress in learning more about biomedical research.
FASEB is composed of 26 societies with more than 100,000 members, making it the largest coalition of biomedical research associations in the United States. Celebrating 100 Years of Advancing the Life Sciences in 2012, FASEB is rededicating its efforts to advance health and well-being by promoting progress and education in biological and biomedical sciences through service to our member societies and collaborative advocacy.
