Bethesda, MD (Oct. 9, 2013) -- Today, the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Institute announced a new partnership with PENTAX Medical. PENTAX Medical will provide substantial funding over three years to stimulate innovation that will advance the science and practice of gastroenterology and improve patient outcomes.

"We are proud to partner with PENTAX Medical, an organization committed to improving patient care through innovative medical technologies," said Anil K. Rustgi, MD, AGAF, president, AGA Institute. "This generous gift will help the AGA Institute in developing essential programming to advance innovation in gastroenterology, with the ultimate goal of developing new ways to care for patients suffering from digestive diseases."

PENTAX Medical will become a three-year sponsor of AGA's annual technology summit, which serves to identify unmet needs in gastroenterology, highlight promising new technologies, and deliver vital information on what it takes to obtain approval, adoption, coverage and reimbursement in today's health-care environment.

PENTAX Medical's commitment will also support the AGA Center for GI Innovation and Technology in its global efforts to foster innovation and technology in digestive and metabolic diseases under the principles of evidence-based medicine. The center supports innovation in the development of new technology in gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition and obesity by guiding medical device and therapeutics innovators though the technology development and adoption process.

Furthering its commitment to GI innovation, PENTAX Medical will also support AGA Research Foundation's Corporate Roundtable, which engages corporate and clinical GI leaders in discussions regarding scientific advancements, policy, legislation, and other issues and opportunities that impact the science and practice of gastroenterology and hepatology.

"PENTAX Medical is pleased to support the AGA Institute in its work to promote innovation in gastroenterology," said Len Farris, vice president of marketing, Americas, PENTAX Medical. "By investing in the AGA Institute, we are putting innovation in the hands of GI clinicians who are at the forefront of battling digestive diseases. We look forward to the technological discoveries that will result from this collaboration."
