Linda R. Larin, MBA, FACCA, FACHE, associate hospital director at the University of Michigan Health System and chief administrative officer of the U-M Frankel Cardiovascular Center, is the recipient of the 2016 Bugbee Falk Book Award for "Inspired to Change: Improving Patient Care One Story at a Time."

The award, established to honor the accomplishments of George Bugbee and Isidore S. Falk, M.D., was given by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA). Each year, AUPHA presents the Bugbee Falk Book Award to a group of outstanding students in its member programs.

The book award is an innovative way to support tomorrow's leaders by providing them with works by respected authors in the field. Selected books are intended to help recipients launch their professional library.

Inspired to Change focuses on why patient- and family-centered care is important and how professional caregivers must embrace this approach to improve clinical outcomes and the patient and family experience.

Each chapter begins with a synopsis of opportunities for improvement that can help transform and redesign the healthcare delivery model of the future, personal health care stories, and concludes with lessons learned, useful resources and recommended reading for improving the delivery of patient care.
