About the Fellowships

The EurekAlert! Fellowships for International Science Reporters support excellence in science communication globally, with a focus on developing regions and emerging economies.

Funded by EurekAlert!, the AAAS-operated science-news service, the Fellowship program provides travel funding to early-career science, technology, and health journalists to attend the AAAS Annual Meeting, the world’s largest general scientific meeting. It was established in 2004 with a seed grant from the William T. Golden Endowment Fund for Program Innovation.

The 2019 Fellowship program is supported in part by Johns Hopkins Medicine and is open to science journalists in China, India, the Balkan region, and majority-Arab states in the Middle East. Previous Fellowship winners have also come from Africa, and Central and South America.

Applications are open from August 28-September 25, 2018. Winners are expected to be announced in mid-October.
