The Universitat Jaume I in Castelló and the Virgen de los Lirios Hospital of the Alcoy Health Department have signed an agreement to develop an industrial doctorate project that will evaluate the ease of use, efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction of users, healthcare professionals and carers of a device designed to facilitate female urination in the supine position.
Research staff from the DIESIS group (Research in Applied Statistics, Product Design and Health) at the UJI and the Nursing Innovation Group of the Alcoy and Xàtiva-Ontinyent Health Department (GEQUO), associated with Fisabio, have developed this device.
Ana Mesa La Guardia, a PhD student in the Industrial and Materials Technologies programme, will develop the project "Validation and final design of a device for female urination in the supine position (ERGOMIC) in the population of the Alcoy Health Department", which will serve as the basis for her doctoral thesis with industrial mention. The usability study in a controlled and real clinical environment will serve to verify the viability of the patented device, which has been validated on an experimental scale in the laboratory environment.
