RNA editing in Neurospora crassa modulates antiviral responses and the induction of symptoms (IMAGE)
Caption
Adjacent genomic neighbors old and zao in Neurospora crassa regulate the defenses against viruses. OLD is a deaminase enzyme that modifies the zao transcripts, which are translated into a master transcription factor that controls antiviral responses, triggering a hyperactive antiviral response in the fungal system.
