First observation of toroidal conjugation across multiple molecules

Flat, dye-like molecules with eight upright, pillar-shaped extensions self-assemble into pairs, interlocking like gears to form a tightly packed ring of 16 stacked layers. This structure allows charge and energy to circulate freely around the loop.
