Macroscopic and microscopic structural changes of MoSi2/HfO2 duplex EBCs before and after steam corrosion (IMAGE)
Caption
The MoSi2/HfO2 duplex EBCs effectively protected the SiC substrate for up to 200 h in a 1500°C environment with a 90% H2O-10% O2 atmosphere. The coatings maintained their structural integrity and exhibited strong adhesion to the substrate, with minimal corrosion observed on the SiC substrate. Additionally, tri-layered TGOs were formed in-situ at the interface between MoSi2 and HfO2 layers. Ddefects within the EBCs were self-healed during corrosion.
