Loss of function of multiple ALS-associated RNA-binding proteins leads to reduced UNC13A expression through two distinct mechanisms: TDP-43 loss causes cryptic exon inclusion and mRNA destabilization, while FUS, MATR3, and hnRNPA1 loss results in elevated REST levels that repress UNC13A transcription.
