DNA Topology Image 1 with a scale bar (IMAGE)
Caption
Image 1 shows what looks like two pieces of interlinked rope. The orange “ropes” are in fact circles, each one a double helix of DNA. Each time the two circles of DNA cross each other, one either goes over or under the other.
The scale bar represents 20 nanometres. There are 1 billion nanometres in a metre.
