Global Assessment Reveals Sustainability Gaps in Shared River Basins. (IMAGE)

This graphic summarizes a global study of 310 transboundary river basins, highlighting key data sources, analytical methods, and findings. Results show significant performance gaps in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) compared with national averages, with four basin types facing distinct challenges. While synergies between goals often outweigh trade-offs, achieving clean water (SDG 6), economic growth (SDG 8), and health (SDG 3) together could enable up to 38% of these basins to reach sustainability.
