Interfacial Cross-Linking of Phenolic Resin and Pitch for Enhanced Sodium Storage in HC. Anodes. This schematic illustrates the synthesis process of hard carbon (HC) anodes with improved sodium storage performance. Initially, phenolic resin spheres (left) are cross-linked with pitch to form a unique core-shell structure. The phenolic resin core (PR) is enveloped by a ~10 nm thick pitch-derived shell (PI) to create the PI/PR-Zn composite (right), enhancing Na+ transport and cycling stability for sodium-ion batteries. This design leads to improved capacity and rate performance in sodium-ion batteries.
