Led by Prof. Wallace Lai, Associate Head and Professor of the PolyU Department of Land Surveying and Geo-informatics, a PolyU research team leveraged advanced technologies for underground exploration to develop underground utilities inspection systems which support early detection of urban infrastructure anomalies, including voids and pipe leakages, for enhanced urban management.
