Deep blue upconversion OLED powered by a 1.5 V battery

This illustration depicts the QAO family dopant integrated into the organic light-emitting diode structure. By designing a molecule with a lower HOMO level than that of the host material, the researchers prevented hole trapping, enabling efficient triplet–triplet annihilation and deep blue light emission at a record-low driving voltage of just 1.5 V.
