Norway's only 7T MRI machine (IMAGE)

Researchers at the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology have used the new 7T MRI machine at St. Olavs Hospital in this study. The machine, which was installed in 2019 at a price tag of almost NOK 100 million, is the only one of its kind in Norway. It is designed to be able to take images of the brain with far higher resolution than what is possible with a regular MRI. "This machine allows us to zoom in and look at small structures, which you cannot see with other MRI machines," says Kavli researcher Maryam Ziaei.
