Novel Compound Discovered from Thermophilic Cyanobacteria Can Be Used for UV Protection

A novel natural compound synthesized by a thermophilic cyanobacterium, Gloeocapsa species, shows triple chemical modification that contributes to its unique structural and functional properties. With its UV protection as well as an antioxidant property, the compound can be utilized for the development of eco-friendly sunscreens as well as anti-aging formulations.
